Description:

These deck logs have been scanned into pdf files and transferred to CD. Each CD contains the deck logs for one year. The CD also contains the ship's chronology for that year. This report, sometimes referred to as the ship's history, is a breakdown of the years events written by the Captain of the ship at the time. There is no ship's history for 1969. Each CD is $10.00. Years available are 1964-1972 with the exception of:

• 1965 - Missing Sept. through Nov.

• 1966 - Missing. Believed to still be in the possession of Captain James D. Elliot, who was Commanding Officer from March 1966-July 1967.

• 1971 - No deck logs - Ship was in dry dock that year.

• 1973 - Still classified - Under review - may take weeks or months to be released.

The 1969 deck log CD also contains information which may be useful in filing an Amchitka claim. The complete set of deck logs and histories is available for $65.00, a savings of $5.00.

All proceeds will go to the USS Joseph Strauss Association to help defray the cost of obtaining the records.
